The Heavy Metal Summer Experience (HMSE) is a program designed to introduce high school students and recent graduates to careers in the building trades, specifically focusing on sheet metal, piping, and plumbing. Through hands-on learning, participants work alongside craft professionals, engage in projects, and tour active job sites and union training facilities to gain a comprehensive understanding of the industry.
Hosting an HMSE camp is a significant opportunity for us at JMI to invest in the future local workforce. By providing students with practical experience and exposure to the trades, we play a crucial role in addressing the industry's skills shortage and fostering a new generation of skilled professionals. This initiative not only benefits the students by offering them viable career paths but also strengthens our community by promoting economic growth and stability through the development of a competent and diverse workforce.
